Born in Turin, Italy, in 1973, Dillon has to his credit a brilliant international career characterized by the originality and variety of the repertoire explored. His intense solo activity has seen him perform on prestigious international stages, such as Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam, Philharmonie in Berlin, just to name a few, and with orchestras such as the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra Nazionale della RAI, SWR Radio Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart and RSO Radio Symphonie Orchester Wien. He has collaborated with conductors such as Giuseppe Sinopoli, Susanna Mallki, Luciano Berio, Peter Rundel, Johannes Kalitzke. He studied with cellists such as Anner Bijlsma, Mario Brunello, David Geringas and Mstislav Rostropovich. He also studied composition with Salvatore Sciarrino. In 1993 he was one of the founders of the Quartetto Prometeo, an internationally renowned chamber music ensemble, winner of numerous awards (Prague Spring, ARD Münich, Bordeaux) and awarded the "Silver Lion" for Lifetime Achievement at the 2012 Venice Music Biennale.

Dillon is also a permanent member of the Ensemble Alter Ego, regularly invited to major contemporary music festivals around the world.

He has recorded for the labels SONY, ECM, Kairos, Ricordi, Stradivarius, Die Schachtel, Mode and Touch. He recorded the world premiere of Variazioni by Salvatore Sciarrino (awarded the Diapason d'or) and Ballata by Giacinto Scelsi, both with the Orchestra Nazionale della RAI. In duo with the pianist Emanuele Torquati he has made three CDs of Schumann rarities and the complete works for cello by Franz Liszt for Brilliant Classics. His performances are broadcasted by BBC, RAI, ARD, Radio France, ORF, ABC Australia, WDR. In addition to his concert activity, he also has teaching experience at institutions such as the Royal College of London, the Accademia Chigiana of Siena, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory of Moscow, the Liszt Academy of Budapest, Pacific University (California), Untref-Buenos Aires, Manche-ster University. Currently, Dillon is teaching the Advanced Course at the Fiesole School of Music. From 2010 to 2019 he was artistic director of the contemporary music season "Music@villaromana" in Florence and since 2019 he has been artistic director of the CastelCello Festival in Brunnenburg.
